Social Science A.A.

Degree Overview

The Associate of Arts in Social Science degree offers great flexibility, allowing students to individualize their program by selecting courses from multiple Social Science fields. Students can customize their degree, based upon individual interests and goals. This degree serves as a base for further study in a four-year program or prepares graduates to more quickly enter the workforce.

Learning Outcomes

  • Students will be able to possess an appreciation for the social sciences, including a working knowledge of how each social science is unique and how it relates to the other social sciences. 
  • Students will be able to demonstrate a broad understanding of concepts in the social sciences and an ability to relate these concepts to the contemporary world.

Outcomes

A social science/work degree opens doors to diverse careers. Graduates can work as market research analysts, understanding consumer behavior and market trends, or as social science researchers in academic or governmental roles. In social services, they can become social workers, supporting individuals and families, or counselors, providing guidance in various settings. 

Additionally, many pursue careers in education, teaching social sciences at different levels, or working in educational administration. The degree also prepares graduates for roles in public policy, human resources, and non-profit organizations, leveraging their understanding of societal dynamics to drive positive change.
