Classes start every January. USF accepts accelerated nursing students once a year, with a new group of nursing students starting classes each January. In just four semesters (spring, summer, fall, spring), you can change your career and become a registered nurse with a B.S.N. degree.

Gain extensive clinical experience with patient contact beginning in your first semester in USF’s accelerated nursing program. This includes taking part in clinical nursing experiences in all areas of nursing practice and across the life span of patients.
Use simulation technology in USF’s nursing classrooms and during clinical rotations. Your classroom instruction on our campus in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, takes place in our state-of-the-art nursing facilities, which include the best nursing simulation technology, as you earn your accelerated nursing degree.
A nursing degree opens up numerous career opportunities for graduates. They can work as registered nurses (RNs) in hospitals, clinics or long-term care facilities, providing direct patient care and assisting with medical treatments.
Others may specialize in areas such as pediatrics, oncology, or critical care, focusing on specific patient populations or medical conditions. Some graduates pursue roles in community health, working in schools, public health departments or nonprofit organizations to promote wellness and prevent disease.

Before beginning the USF accelerated nursing program, students need to show proof of successful completion of these college-level prerequisites (earning a C- or better). Students are encouraged to apply to the program even if all the prerequisite courses have not been completed.

Accelerated nursing faculty and admissions counselors can help you assess your past college courses to use toward satisfying these prerequisites. USF evaluates the recency of these courses on an individual basis.
Students who plan to enroll for prerequisite courses at USF are required to complete the Pre-Professional Nursing Application for Admission. Students taking six or more credits may be eligible for financial aid while working on their prerequisite courses.
You are eligible for consideration into USF's Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N.) degree program, if you meet the following criteria by the start of the program:
Students can apply to the accelerated nursing program before graduating. If you do not meet all of the above criteria, you are encouraged to contact nursing@usiouxfalls.edu to discuss eligibility options.

You can obtain your Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N.) degree by completing courses over a 4-semester period. The accelerated option is designed for students who have previously earned a bachelor’s degree and desire to pursue a career in the nursing field.
Your application to the USF School of Nursing serves as your Application for Admission to the University of Sioux Falls.
Complete the Accelerated Nursing Application. Accelerated applications will be accepted beginning March 1st. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis once all application materials have been received by the School of Nursing. Applications will continue being accepted as space allows in the program.
Within the application, you will be required to supply three professional references. Each of your professional references will submit their reference form directly to USF on your behalf.
Request official transcript(s) from every college or university you have attended to be sent directly to the USF School of Nursing. Official transcript(s) must be received either by email or in a sealed envelope and contain the embossed seal of the college or university and the signature of the Registrar. Faxed copies are not considered official.
If you have been previously admitted to the University of Sioux Falls, you need only request official transcripts for transfer courses not already recorded on your USF transcript.

Students actively enrolled in courses should request official transcripts once final grades have been posted. This will eliminate the need to order another set of transcripts.
